Commercial and Domestic Energy Assessments

The EC Energy Performance of Buildings Directive requires an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for all buildings. EPCs were introduced for residential property sales as part of the Home Information Pack for houses with four or more bedrooms from 1 August 2007 and for houses with three or more bedrooms from 1 September 2007. They will be introduced for commercial property from 6 April 2008.

From this date EPCs will be required for the sale or rent of buildings other than dwellings with a floor area over 500 m2, and on construction for all non-dwellings. Display Energy Certificates will be required for all public buildings >1,000 m2.
From 1 October 2008, EPCs will be required on homes for rent and on the sale or rent of all remaining commercial property.

To assess energy performance a property has to be profiled. Our surveyor will visit and gather information including the build date, type of construction, size, the existing heating system and existing insulation.  The assessment will give the property a current rating and show the cost of fuel bills. The assessment will also give recommendations on how those bills could be reduced, and will indicate the potential rating the property could achieve. Call us on 01872 560200.
