Contaminated Land Reports

In Cornwall the most common ground contaminants are heavy metals and arsenic contaminants from mining waste. Accurate measurement of contamination levels is vital in determining the most sustainable, cost effective treatments. The Consultancy is unique in the region, having its own on-site geochemical laboratory.

Contaminated Land reports requiring the analysis of soils are now an integral part of the planning process.  Crofty Consultancy provides soil analysis, detailed reports and remediation strategies for sites of all sizes in any location.

The laboratory team is headed by Clifford Rice, a Consultant Chemist with over 20 years experience in assaying and geochemistry in the South West mining industry. We can assess sites of all types, from Greenfield to active and abandoned industrial sites. In addition to striaghtforward soil content testing we offer PBET arsenic, SBET lead and Water Contamination Surveys designed to measure the potential human uptake of toxic metals.

Prices vary according to the number of samples taken and the range of contaminants being tested for. The sampling procedures are based on the appropriate British Standards, such as BS 10175:2001.

As all builders in Cornwall are now aware, many building sites require special Sulphate Resistant Concrete to be used for footings, to resist the degradation of the concrete by the action of sulphate in the soil. The Consultancy can offer an unbeatable turnaround time for these samples at very competitive rates. All testing is carried out to BS 1377:Part 3:1990 by our own experienced Chemists.
