Contaminated Land Reports Land contamination reports

Land contamination assessments - starting with Phase 1 land contamination investigations -  are now an integral part of the planning and building control process.  Crofty Consultancy provides soil analysis, detailed reports and remediation strategies for sites of all sizes in any location.  From initial desk-based studies and a non-intrusive walkover, we target further investigation according to the nature of the risks identified.

In Cornwall the most commonly encountered ground contaminants are metals, including arsenic, from historic mining activity and naturally occuring mineralisation.

ex-military-base-landfill.JPG We investigate sites of all types and sizes, from active and abandoned industrial sites to greenfield, marine and shoreline.  In addition to striaghtforward soil testing we offer PBET testing for any heavy metal - excepting lead, for which we carry out SBET analysis.  These tests are designed to measure the bio-availability - the potential for human uptake - of toxic metals as found at each site.

We also carry out water sampling and analysis.

Prices vary according to the number of samples taken and the range of contaminants being tested for. The sampling procedures are based on the appropriate British Standards, such as BS 10175:2001.

As all builders in Cornwall are now aware, many building sites require special Sulphate Resistant Concrete to be used for footings, to resist possible degradation of concrete by the action of sulphates in the soil.  We can these services at very competitive rates. All testing is carried out to BS 1377:Part 3:1990 by our own experienced GeoChemists. Call us on 01872 560200.
